long overdue
I’ve wanted to do a post for a while now, but have lacked any topics to talk about. Life out in the west has been up and down, just like my waist. It’s been a rough few months for me, and my plans for eating well went out the window. In mid-May, someone close to me passed away. I shut down, and honestly stopped taking care of myself. The past few months have been trying to get back to being on track, back to staying gluten-free, and getting back to working out.
About a month ago, I had to go to the ER for a hernia and ruptured ovarian cyst. After talking with the doctor and doing some research of my own, the hernia could have definite ties to eating gluten. Since then, I’ve been sticking gluten free like it’s going out of style. I knew there were dangers of eating it, but i figured “my consequences aren’t as bad as some, and i love bread/pasta/etc”. Now I know how wrong that is, and how the warnings from friends should’ve been taken more to heart.
Finally, I’ve been living out of a hotel for the last month, while in training for a new job. Can I say how much not having a kitchen SUCKS?! I miss cooking! It’s been a slight challenge eating well with the choices around my hotel, but I’ve done fairly well.
Needless to say, I’m back. Life is settling down, training will be over soon, and I’ll be scoping out crossfit boxes in my city. I really want to give it another shot, have that amazing experience I know others have had.
In parting, I leave this question for you: Looking back on your resolutions for this year, how have you done?
